In Hermès, Indonesian Ikat Roooars!!!

Happy Wednesday dear friends. It pleases me to re-post my article and re-gram Hermes' photo on its newest collection of China and Cutleries. Happy to note that, as a leading luxury goods and fine learherware brand, Hermes has publicly made official announcement that Indonesia is the origin and source of inspiration for its collection.

We, Indonesians, are proud to see that Hermes has lead the way of acknowledgement regarding the origin of Ikat as an integral part of Indonesia's traditional cultural expression. This is the reason why Hermes has always retains its position ahead and beyond comparison with other luxury goods brands. This ethical conduct of acknowledging the origin or source of inspiration is honouring Indonesians. Can't hardly wait to see Hermes collaborates with Indonesian notable and talented designers in developing capsule collection on Indonesian Ikat and Batik inspired collection through fashion and leatherware as well as the Hermes signature silk and cashmere carre/foulard (scarf/shawl). I hope such collaboration will also aim to develop the economic competitiveness of Ikat or Batik makers in the traditional communities so they will be able to send large scale exports.

Well, I think very soon not only Indonesians but also the world's fashionistas will drool over an Ikat or Batik Kelly or Birkin bag by Hermes. Big thumbs once more go to the team of Hermes Indonesia, Mrs Maggie Halim & Mrs Daisy Musin Dare.
