Batik Chic Show Takes Sydney By Storm

After Amsterdam, Algiers, Budapest, Basel, Caracas, London, Milan, Paris, Tokyo and New York, Batik Chic fashionably arrives in Sydney.

Under the auspice of Indonesian Consulate General to New South Wales, Dharma Wanita Persatuan (Organization of Indonesian Civil Servants’ Spouses) Sydney Chapter has hosted the first ever Batik Chic/BC show in the Southern Hemisphere.

In his opening remarks, Dr Yayan GH Mulyana, Indonesian Consul General in Sydney, underlines that the show is in line with the promotion of Indonesian culture, through fashion diplomacy.

Ms Novita Yunus, the Creator and Designer of Batik Chic, reveals that the show presents “Batik Chic Goes to Down Under” collection. This special collection has been conceived to meet the demands of Australian market which accentuate elegance, comfortability, neutral as well as monochromatic tone. The collection consists of two sequences, including Pretty Parang and So Sogan from Java, Batik Jambi from Sumatera and Tenun Sumba from East Nusa Tenggara.

Attended by approximately 100 influential figures of Indonesian-Australian women community, indeed Batik Chic has taken Sydney by storm. It is so thrilling to see that Batik Chic received warm reception not only by Indonesian women but also by their Australian counterparts. Almost each piece was sold out within minutes after show.

Ms Carla Van Lunn, a senior lecturer in Queensland University of Technology’s School of Fashion, and Ms Lydia Pearson, designer of Easton Pearson, were impressed with the BC show. Both highlighted their admiration of the thoroughly elegant and attractive collection. They also expressed their sincere hope for the collection to access Australian market smoothly, as BC items are meticulously crafted and handsomely rich in patterns and colors.

JET, a good friend and long time supporter of Batik Chic, is utterly proud to serve as a Moderator during the interactive session of discussion between Novita Yunus and the attendees. During this session, Ms Yunus also shown the attendees some simple steps to glamorously wear Batik sarong and sash.

Established in 2009, Batik Chic has grown from a small enterprise into a luxury brand in Indonesia. Novita Yunus has presented Batik Chic in the world’s capitals of fashion. Last year, Indonesian Minister for Women Empowerment chose her as awardee of Anugerah Perempuan Indonesia (Indonesian Women Award).
Stay Chic with Batik Chic for always!
