Indonesian Fashion Extravaganza Marvels New Zealanders
Graciously initiated by HE Mr Jose Tavares (the Ambassador
Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to New Zealand)
and Madam Rennie Wibowo Tavares, JET is honored to be asked to participate in
the Indonesian Fashion Extravaganza, the first ever Indonesian Fashion
Diplomacy event in New Zealand, held on 4 March 2016.
In the 21st century when diplomacy is intertwined
with culture, Indonesian Fashion Extravaganza is the embodiment of Indonesian
cultural diplomacy through fashion in the furthest end of Southern Hemisphere.
As the first ever comprehensive fashion show hosted by
Indonesian Embassy, this show aims to present the very best of Indonesian
traditional textiles namely Batik, Ikat and Songket.
These textiles are more than just a piece of cloth to
Indonesians, as each of them is unique and holds philosophical term through
their distinctive patterns and bold color.
The IFE show presents the creations of seven renowned Indonesian
designers, namely Mrs Nita Seno Adji, Mr Handy Hartono, Mr Sikie Purnomo, Mr Defrico
Audy, Mr Rudy Chandra, Ms Carla Setja Atmadja and Mr Yuku Moko. Each of them
presents a one-of-a-kind fashionable yet practical apparel, specifically designed
for New Zealanders.
Taking place at the ocean-front Wharewaka Function Centre, IFE
has effectively gathered 200 audiences as well as Wellington-based dignitaries,
including Government officials and foreign Ambassadors.
“The show was spectacular and the designs presented were all
beautiful and unique. I enjoyed the show very much and would love to have the
designs available in New Zealand”, said stylish Wellingtonians who attended the
show.
After months of preparation, the IFE took off with a triumphant
show on the first day. This was followed by a fashion bazaar on the second day
(5 March 2016) which took place in the Indonesian Embassy in Wellington. The
coverage on the bazaar will be featured on my next post.

Ps.
pemuka industri mode New Zealand yang gemar dengan Hollywood Glam era 1950-an.
Sedangkan
modernitas busana tradisional ditampilkan Carla Setja Atmadja lewat 2010 Made
Let’s be proud in wearing the very best of Indonesian designer
anywhere we go. Stay chic and fab, Indonesian fashionistas and designers!
