Celebrating Hari Ibu in Sydney: Nita Seno Adji and Handy Hartono Dazzled Down Under
Mother, how
are you today?
Here is a
note from your daughter
With me
everything is okay
Mother, how
are you today? (Maywood)
Nita Seno Adji and Handy
Hartono, two top Indonesian designers, recently dazzled Sydney-siders with
their elegant designs. These household name designers in Indonesia were invited
by the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Sydney to participate
in the fashion show commemorating Hari Ibu (Mother’s Day).
Hosted by Madam Irene Mulyana
(Chair of Civil Servants’ Spouses Organization in Sydney) and supported by
Indonesian Consulate General, the event was successfully attended by 150
Indonesian women in Sydney. The triumph of the event was also marked by the
major numbers of Indonesian women who travelled inter-state to specially
attended the event.
Nita Seno Adji stunned the
audience with her signature handcrafted embroidery which is both colorful and
luxurious. Handy Hartono, meanwhile, astonished the guests with his super cool
indigo blue hand-painted Batik. The handsome creations of these designers
perfectly blend in with the ambiance of the city of Sydney as well as its
stylish and vibrant inhabitants. This must be the reason why both designers
received continuous applause at the finale.
The 2016 Ratu Kebaya (Kebaya Queen) pageant is another exciting feature of
this year’s Mother Day. It was no easy task for the judges to select the winner
and five runner ups from 150 smart and pretty Indonesian women who all dressed
up charmingly in Indonesian traditional textiles from various parts of
Indonesia, including Java, Kalimantan, Sumatera, Sulawesi, Bali, Papua and
other region.
Before the tasty Indonesian
lunch was served, most attendees could not help themselves to try on and
purchase the outfits. As a member of organizing committee, JET is utterly proud
to witness the enthusiasm of Sydney-siders in welcoming the Indonesian
designers and eager in purchasing the handsome collection of these designers.
The success of the show as well as the sold out fashion merchandises within
minutes after the show stood as a testimony how Indonesian fashion effectively
penetrates foreign market with its unique designs and ethnic patterns.

Ps. Catatan Kecil untuk Sahabats Diplomats dan Rekans Fashionistas,
Selamat Hari Ibu 2016.
as usual, melainkan something which is extra-ordinary. Untuk itu, rayakan Hari
Ibu dengan mempromosikan diplomasi busana melalui promosi karya-karya perancang
kebanggaan Tanah Air. Suksesnya pagelaran busana karya Nita Seno Adji dan Handy
Hartono di Sydney menunjukkan antusiasme masyarakat asing terhadap busana karya
desainer lokal. Never stop wearing and promoting Indonesian fashion in abroad.
Stay confident and put on that electrifying smile while you highlight
Indonesian fashion diplomacy.

“Selamat Hari Ibu. This is indeed a celebration from us, by us and to us all, Indonesian
women”, as underlined by Madam Irene Mulyana, Chair of Dharma Wanita
Persatuan (Spouses of Civil Servants Organization) Sydney Chapter. Madam
Mulyana wears red kebaya with a classy Tiga Negeri Batik sarong. Tiga Negeri
(three states) refers to Solo, Pekalongan and Lasem where the colourings of
Batik cloth used to take place in the late 19th and early 20th
century.
Consul
General Dr Yayan Mulyana extended his heartfelt congratulations to female
attendees celebrating the 88th Anniversary of Hari Ibu.
