FROM STRASBOURG, THE WORLD'S CAPITAL FOR CHRISTMAS

Christmas is celebrated festively in France, most notably in Strasbourg, the capital of Alsace region. For decades, the Christmas Market (Marche de Noel) is a long-standing tradition. The streets, houses, churches, windows and balconies are lit so brightly with the lights and candles, and decorated lavishly with Christmas decorations.

From the busy skiing rink at the Place Kleber with children and the children-at-hearts to the last-minute Christmas shopping by locals and tourists at the fashionable boutiques, Strasbourg has a lovely variety to offer to everyone during the end of the year holiday.

Strasbourg Cathedral (Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Strasbourg), the most iconic landmark of Strasbourg, features historical presentation of the birth of Jesus Christ. The construction of this French architecture gem began in 1015 and completed in 1439. Thus, it took more than 4 centuries to finalize this huge Cathedral with fine details in each corner.

It has been more than a decade since my last visit to the Strasbourg Cathedral, so attending mass in this Cathedral on a Christmas day is a prayer comes true for JET.

Surrounding this Gothic-style Cathedral is the Christmas Market (Marche du Noel) which is getting more charming with each coming year. I remember being charmed with the ambiance in 2009 and now I think I am falling in love for the second time.

To celebrate a tres chic Christmas in Strasbourg, JET puts on Batik shirt underneath the warm coats. Yes friends, Strasbourg is quite chilly during Winter season. Chilly yet utterly charming and pretty.
