Front-rowing JET with Mom at Sydney’s MBFF

Proudly accompanied by his fashionable Mom –Mrs Henny Tandjung-, JET walked tall and grand to attend the much anticipated fashion scene of the season a.k.a. Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival/MBFF.

Indeed, JET is sooo thrilled to be invited to the most prestigious fashion event in the Southern Hemisphere! The Fashion Festival serves as the kaleidoscope for the trendiest Australian designs for the upcoming Spring/Summer 2016. Bold prints and colorful patterns are to be found along side the monochrome as well as pastel colored outfits at the show. Clean cut dresses with a bit of skin showing elegantly dominated the show.

While the last Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in March was highlighted with a specific show for each prominent designer from Down Under, the MBFF features three thematic shows, which cover casual and contemporary, semi-formal and formal as well as elegant attires.

Similar to the world’s leading fashion shows, the show is a hub of the most important fashion networks as it was filled with the most beautiful and glamorous actors/actresses, fashion editors, bloggers, journalists and guests. All wore elegant and one-of-a-kind ensemble.

I always believe that fashion is not just a piece of clothing, regardless of its beauty. In fact, each shirt or blouse or cloth can be worn to represent one’s character or even one’s state of origin.

My Mom and I chose to wear the most famous traditional textile from Indonesia to attend the MBFF, namely Batik. For centuries, Indonesian Batik has been deeply associated with meticulous techniques, intricate and meaningful patterns as well as vibrant colours.

Fashionistas, gaze through the following photos and witness how my shirt from Batik Cirebon and Mom’s long skirt from Batik Madura mesmerized Sydney’s leading fashion people.

Rest assured that JET and his Mom received lots of extra nice comments regarding their outfits!

If you wish to turn heads as we did, never hesitate to put on the much beloved fashion ensemble from your country of origin and wear it with another trendy outfit from other designer. Instantly you will reveal an original look which others will adore!

Thank you, MBFF and its amazing line of Australian designers, for a great night that one and one’s mother will forever treasure!

Fashionistas, stay tuned for JET’s fashionable adventure by following him and his fab Mom in instagram (@JETJAKARTA), Facebook page (JET’s Fashion Diplomacy) and twitter (@Jonesey4Eva).
