JET’s Annual Style Review: Welcome 2016, So long 2015!

As this is my first piece of writing in 2016, let me wish you all, my dear friends and families, a Happy New Year. May God continues to grants His abundant blessings to all of us.

With regard to my love of fashion, 2015 will always be a memorable year to me. It was the very year that I decided to establish a blog on fashion diplomacy, most particularly Indonesian’s.

The aim of this blog is to introduce the beauty of Indonesian fashion to the world as well as in promoting the use of fashion as an effective tool of diplomacy.

Now, as we embrace this brand new year, let us review our activities in the past year. Only by doing so that we will be able to formulate the exact resolutions which are required for 2016.

The following twelve photos encapsulate my passion in promoting Indonesian fashion diplomacy throughout my twelve months engagements in various continents across the oceans, including Indonesia, Australia and New Zealand.

Stay updated with JET’s bolder and brighter fashion adventures in 2016 through instagram (@JETJAKARTA), Facebook page (JET’s Fashion Diplomacy) and twitter (@Jonesey4Eva).

Soooo, make your pick ladies and gentlemen! Which one is your favourite JET look from 2015?

Ps. Never ever be doubtful in putting on your Indonesian Batik, Tenun, Karawang, Tapis, Songket, Ikat, etc.

Let’s wear Batik for Christmas!

At the open house of Indonesian Foreign Ministry’s Secretary General during Christmas Day, with Mrs Caecilia Legowo, H.E. Mr Yohanes Kristiarto Legowo (Secretary General of Indonesian Foreign Ministry), H.E. Madam Retno LP Marsudi (Indonesian Foreign Minister) and Mr Agus Marsudi in Jakarta.

My Indonesian Batik Shirt is designed by Josephine Komara (Obin) for Bin House (http://www.binhouse.com/mainpage.html).

Batik for official attire, why not?!!!

With H.E. A.M. Fachir (Indonesian Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs) and Madam Yasmin Fachir, dressed in a green kebaya with matching Indonesian Batik sarong. Kebaya is a signature top for Indonesian women which are worn during formal and semi-formal events.

My Indonesian Batik hand-painted shirt is designed by Bai Soemarlono and Joseph for Batik Populo (instagram: @populo). Take a closer look at the modernized pattern of Kawung in my shirt.

One fab trip to the Land of Long White Clouds would be incomplete without putting on Indonesian textile!

One lovely moment with H.E. Mr Jose Tavares, Indonesian Ambassador to New Zealand, and Madam Rennie Wibowo Tavares at the majestic hall inside Indonesian Embassy in Wellington. Thanks to the Ambassador and Madam, my parents (Mr & Mrs Jos Tandjung) and I had a memorable trip in The Land of Kiwi.

My jacket is crafted from Tenun Sabu (Hand-woven textile originating from the  Sabu island in Flores, Indonesia)
Dad’s Batik shirt from Era Soekamto for Iwan Tirta Private Collection (Instagram: @IwanTirta, @EraSoekamto).
Mom wears a long bolero by Nita Seno Adji which was crafted from Tenun Endek (woven in Bali) (Facebook: Juanita Senoadji).

Monochromatic Batik madness with the one and only Gigi Hadid. One surely knows that one has set the trend when the world’s most sought after model and celebrity closely observe one’s trousers!

Hand-painted Batik harem trousers by Lulu Lutfi Labibi, a Yogyakarta-based Indonesian designer. (Instagram: @lululutfilabibi, Facebook: Lulu Lutfi Labibi)

The best way to spend Summer in Surfers Paradise, Gold Coast, is to wear a Batik denim shirt!

A turtleneck cashmere jumper + an Indonesian Ikat cardigan = modern men’s style!

“Is that Indonesian Ikat?” as asked by the one and only Aerin Lauder during her fragrance and skin care launching in Sydney. Aerin is the grand daughter of the late Estee Lauder, the American make up goddess.

My Indonesian Ikat cardigan is designed by Didiet Maulana, a creative young designer whose focus on Ikat has gained him world-wide success (http://theikatindonesia.com/, instagram: @didietmaulana).

Chillin’ fabulously on the top of the Thredbo mountain during freezing winter by stylishly displaying a fringed pouch.

My customized pouch, which is crafted from Tenun Nusa Tenggara, is designed by Novita Yunus for Batik Chic (Facebook: Novita Yunus, Batik Chic).

Classy sogan shirt for a nice outing on the most gorgeous bay, Rosebay!

My Indonesian Batik shirt is designed by Novita Villanueva for Envy Batik (Facebook: Novita Villanueva, Envy Batik)

Bored with the old school Batik? Try my style, wear a vibrant colored and contemporary patterned Batik scarf.

In Canberra during the Floriade festival, JET wore a Toraja patterned Batik scarf by Yuku Moko, a renowned Batik designer from Makassar whose Batik creations embody the patterns representing South Sulawesi’s culture, including fishery tradition of Mandar and traditional house of Toraja (Facebook: Yuku Moko).

Let’s celebrate Idul Fitri (Eid al Fitr) in style! In Batik style to be exact!

Indonesian Batik shawl by Akira Isogawa (http://www.akira.com.au/), a prominent Australia designer whose creations also underline Indonesian Batik and crafted in Indonesia.

Since Summer has returned to Australia, it is time to put on a crisp linen, I mean Batik linen shirt!

Witness how my Batik linen shirt, which is designed by Dua Nyonya Batik, captivated the eyes of David Gandy, the world’s leading male super model (instagram: @duanyonya).

Let’s rock the Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival by wearing Batik!

With my amazing Mother, Mrs Henny Tandjung, who wears a terracotta-colored Batik Madura skirt.

My Indonesian Batik shirt with Mega Mendung pattern from Cirebon is designed by Edward Hutabarat (http://www.edwardhutabarat.com/), a deeply respected Indonesian senior designer whose creations have always been the favourites among Indonesian and foreign celebrities.
