Anyone who works in the fashion industry, or even fancies the fashion world, would be acutely aware than an opening show is the most anticipated show during a fashion week. In addition, an opening show is likely to be a catalyst on how shows will be generated during a fashion week as well as on the trend and colors that will dominate the week.

Toni Maticevski has shown nothing less than marvelous designs, which is presented nicely at the premiere of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia 2016.

In the very words of Maticevski, his Resort 2017 collection is prepared for “a woman unafraid of peeling back the facades around her to reveal unlimited dimensions of truth. Drifting through the distortion that lies like a veil around her, she is pulled to the edge of what is real and what is not. Gently floating towards the juncture where darkness meets light, she finds a welcome illumination of her own inner darkness – the kind of self-knowledge that can only be brought on by an unshakeable and resolute sense of self”.

The silhouette is an upscale rendition of 80's power look. A strong note of tailoring of masculine touches against ladylike silhouettes could be seen throughout the collection.

As a big fan of Toni Maticevski’s amazing creations, JET is ecstatic to be invited to his recent show on MBFWA 2016.

While JET also witnessed Maticevski’s show during MBFWA in 2015, the recently held show is even bigger, bolder and brighter than the last year’s. Taking place in Barangaroo Reserve nearby the historical The Rocks area in Sydney, which is the area of first settlers area in Australia, the show echoes ahead-of-the-curve romanticism with an ode to the elegance of the yesteryears.

Indeed, each time one attends Maticevski’s show, one would feel an air of balance. At the end of the day, the balance between modernity and history, equality between beauty and ordinary is the quality than humans are appealed too. Maticevski truly masters this and it is why each of his show would marvel us so intensely.

Oooh and have I told you why this year’s fashion week is utterly dear to my heart? It is because I have my fashionable partner in crime, Ms Novita Yunus, designer and director Batik Chic.

As an ode to mbak Novita Yunus, JET wears the newest collection of Batik Chic namely the Parang track pants in Black and White.

See how JET and Novita Yunus, the talented Indonesian designer of Batik Chic, turned heads of Australian fashion people at this year’s most intriguing show.
