Indonesian Fashion Diplomacy Triumphs in Sydney

“The IndonesiaBeautiful fashion show will foster closer relations
between Indonesia and Australia”
as stated  by H.E. General The Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Ret’d)
(the Governor of New South Wales)

JET is honored and proud to be assigned in holding the IndonesiaBeautiful show on 8 March 2016, which is the first platform to promote Indonesian fashion diplomacy in Australia.

Initiated by Dr Yayan GH Mulyana (the Consul General of Republic of Indonesia to New South Wales) and Madam Irene Mulyana, the show presents wonderful collections of four designers, namely Mrs Nita Seno Adji and Mr Bai Sumarlono/Populo Batik (Indonesia), as well as Mr Akira Isogawa and Mr Haryono Setiadi (Australia).

From its conception, the show aims to strengthen the close friendship and long connection between the two nations, and also to pave the way for further cooperation between designers and the leading figures of both countries’ fashion industries.

I am pleased and very impressed with the development of Indonesian fashion world. The "IndonesiaBeautiful" fashion show will foster closer relations between Indonesia and Australia)” as stated by H.E. General The Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Ret’d), the Governor of New South Wales, in a remarks which was fully delivered in Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian language). General David and Madam Linda Hurley were the Guests of Honour of the show.

Taking place at the ocean-front Prince Henry Centre, Little Bay, this exclusive event successfully assembled 100 most illustrious figures in Australian fashion and luxury industry as well as Sydney-based dignitaries, including Government top officials and foreign Consul Generals. The front rows are filled by representatives from Australian Fashion Chamber, potential buyers from major department stores and global brand boutiques, Australian leading fashion designers, influential fashion editors and bloggers, chairs of fashion institute/schools and famous media personalities.

Last year, President Joko Widodo has underlined that creative industry is projected to become the back bone of Indonesian economy. Being the second largest contributor to Indonesia’s GDP on creative economy sector (after culinary), fashion contributes IDR200 trillion (USD15.6 billion) in 2015.

In Australia, Foreign Minister Julie Bishop has embraced fashion as a pillar of Australian foreign policy. The Australian fashion industry has opened 220,000 jobs in Australia and contributes AUD12 billion to the country’s economy.

Ps.

JET thinks it is time to return to our traditional cultural roots in Indonesia. Telusuri busana dan wastra Nusantara melalui berbagai buku mengenai tekstil Indonesia. Show the world that Indonesia has plenty of impeccable designs with intricate textiles. Ciptakan suatu kreasi unik melalui karya-karya Batik, Bordir, Ikat, Songket, dll.
