Indonesian Cultural Diplomacy Enchanted Foreign Ambassadors

“When we speak about Indonesia,
we speak about democracy, tolerance, diversity and pluralism,
We live in diversity, but there is only one Indonesia”
Her Excellency Mrs Retno Marsudi

The above-mentioned words are excerpted from HE Madam Retno Marsudi’s (Indonesian Foreign Minister) welcoming remarks to officially inaugurate the Cultural Coffee Morning event recently in Jakarta.

The special event aims in promoting Indonesian culture, including fashion, culinary, music and dance to more than 100 dignitaries, including Jakarta-based foreign female Ambassadors and spouses of foreign Ambassadors/Heads of Mission, spouses of Cabinet Ministers, spouses of international organizations’ chair and members of Women International Club.

With regard to fashion diplomacy, the event succeeded in not only introducing Indonesian traditional heritage to foreign dignitaries but also in paving the way to advance the image of Indonesian textile which can be worn as a modern ensemble for the 21st century women, regardless of their nationalities.

Indonesian Batik outfits from Danar Hadi were presented elegantly by Indonesian young diplomats serving as the models.

Each element was prepared finely to present the very best of Indonesia, including traditional dance from Jakarta titled “Kembang Kipas” (Fan Flower). Further, angklung musical instrument from Saung Angklung Mang Udjo nicely added the charming ambiance. Whereas, special culinary dishes from Java, Sulawesi and West Nusa Tenggara were delightfully served to guests.

Bravo Kemlu RI & DWP Kemlu RI for a grand success in promoting Indonesian culture, particularly fashion.
