The JET Bag by Envy Men: My Kind of Bag

In 2012, I was invited by Ari Zainudin and Novita Villanueva, the couple behind Envy fashion house in Indonesia, to collaborate in creating the ultimate bag for men. Back then, Envy or NV, which is the initial of Novita Villanueva, a beautiful and talented former Indonesian model turned successful designer, has been an established Indonesian brand that is unanimously associated with Indonesian finest traditional textiles, including Batik, Ikat, Songket, Ulos, etc.

Since it was incepted, the genuine Italian leather-made JET bag was designed to be a stylish yet functional, classy yet ethnic bag, edgy yet traditional men’s bag.

In short, the JET bag was created to thoroughly represent JET’s profile and ideas, which appeal to similar professional and well-educated men who possess common values. This explains why the parang rusak (broken dagger) pattern from Indonesian Batik is softly hand-inscribed on the bag. This pattern, which was once a forbidden pattern to commoners as it was an exclusive pattern that could only be worn by Javanese Sultans and the Royal Family, serves as a handsome twist to the structured bag.
