The Must-Have Summer Bags: French LV, Italian Prada & Gucci, and Indonesian Batik Chic.

Goodness gracious, the LV Monogram Neverfull limited edition with Sydney inscription is finally launched. Crafted for a limited number of 250 bags, it would be almost impossible for Sydney-siders and visitors alike to attain this lovely bag unless one’s name is included in the waiting list. Yup, the list has increasing queue numbers with each passing day. *sigh*

Generally, the leading fashion houses in Europe would release the fashionista sought-after limited edition summer bags at the end of May or early June annually as Summer is approaching there. Mind you, these bags are only sold in the specific store which address matches precisely to the name of the city and address which are painted on the bag.

Louis Vuitton, for example, began to release its first limited edition Summer bag in its Saint Tropez boutique, in South of France, a few years back. The Neverfull bag with a large size was written with ‘Saint Tropez’ and its boutique address.

It was then followed by the release of limited edition Neverfull in the most luxurious holiday destinations, from St Moritz in Switzerland to Palm Beach in US. Each Neverfull tote was created limited in numbers and unique from one another as each carry different name of city where the LV store is located.

In 2013, LV released tres limited Neverfull specially to launch its store in Capri which has been the playground of the rich and famous for centuries. Capri became the it place in the 1970s as Jackie Kennedy Onassis made it as one of her favorite Summer destinations.

The LV Capri Neverfull is even more special than the rest of the limited edition Neverfull bags because its orange colored leather handle and lining as well as the ikat lining inside the bag. Coincidentally with the launching of the Capri bag, my parents were visiting the famous Italian island during that summer. Needless to say more, Mom was ecstatic to come across this treasured bag.

Indeed, the LV limited edition summer Neverfull can not only be considered as a mere accessory to the bagaholics and fashionista. They are much more than that. In fact, they are memorable mementos that could be brought back home and stylishly carried by any fashionista, long after the vacation is finalized.

Indeed, this summer bag strategy was proven to be successful not only to Vuitton, but also to other European fashion houses, including Prada and Gucci.

During my summer break in Europe a few years ago, I was fortunate to be able to travel to Venezia, or Venice. As my Mom has found her Neverfull in Capri, I found this summer bag in Prada boutique in Venezia.

As predicted, it was love at first sight, particularly when the style advisor told me that the bag comes with a free-of-charge personalization. That sealed the deal for me. Since then, the spacious Prada Venezia tote has accompanied me through endless trips around the globe, both for professional and personal matters.

In 2011, Gucci also released its oh-so-limited summer totes which were only sold in its four boutiques in Monte Carlo (Monaco), Cannes (France), Capri (Italy) and Marbella (Spain).

Back home in Jakarta, I am proud and happy to note that a dear friend of mine, Novita Yunus, was the first Indonesian designer who began releasing summer bag for Batik Chic collection more recently.

I simply adore Batik Chic’s Indonesian-handmade summer bags because not only that it is light and spacious at the same time, but also because of the adventurous nuance that the bag possess as it carries several names of cities which have been visited by the designer to promote her exclusive collection of bags.

Last Summer, we brought the yellow colored Batik Chic bag for a weekend break in Gold Coast. As Mom and I walked along the chic promenade in Surfers Paradise, heads would turn to ask where did we purchase the bag.

Frankly speaking, fashionistas, how can we enjoy a much earned fabulous summer break under palm trees by the beach or that much anticipated winter break by the slopes without these beauties?

Which bag then would you choose to become your faithful companion during those endless hot and humid summer days and nights, or windy and cold season in the Southern Hemisphere as we are experiencing now in Australia and NZ?

Remember that these summer-cum-winter bags are extremely limited and sold only in the boutiques which location matches the name of the city inscribed in the bag. Hence, they are super duper exclusive and must-have fashion items since not everyone can travel thousands and thousands of miles away, as well as spending certain amount of cash, to get these beauties.

Oh, be still my pounding heart. Soon we’ll meet up our newest and hippest Summer-cum-Winter bag. Can you guess which one, fashionista?!!!  J
