Second Part of Leading Ladies of Diplomacy: Ibu Retno, Ms Bishop and Mrs Clinton

Happy Friday fashionista!

As promised last week, today the second part of Leading Ladies of Diplomacy will center at the style note and fashion savvy of Her Excellency Ms Julie Bishop, Australian first female Foreign Minister.

“Throw on a pair of killer red heels and you can feel like taking on the world” as fabulously stated by the Australian Foreign Minister, Ms Julie Bishop when asked about her personal style in an exclusive interview with News Corp Australia recently. Ms Bishop further added that “Shoes are part of your self-expression, they can give you confidence. I think they’re so important”.

You ruleee, Ms Bishop! I am a big fan of women wearing red shoes. Honestly, I concur with her belief on the essential role of shoes to add that so needed final touch in completing an overall look.

Another part of the interview also reveals Ms Bishop’s deep understanding in promoting the most appropriate Australian image through the right choice of her wardrobe.

While she has worn some pieces from her hometown Perth favourite designer, Isabel Aujoulet, she is also known of her Armani power suits and pretty dresses, one of which she wears to grace the cover of Australian WHO’s magazine in 2014 Most Intriguing People. Louboutin, Vuitton and Rossi are some of those high heeled shoes which have adorned her lovely feet.

I simply adore how she can do an elegant mix and match between Australian designer dresses with a French designer clutch and pair of stilletos. This is, indeed, how fashion diplomacy of a foreign minister should look like in the 21st century. Fashion ensemble as a part of each country’s culture should blend with other ensemble coming from other countries and together these pieces will blend into a lovely tapestry.

Vogue Australia editor Edwina McCann said Ms Bishop is “incredibly well put-together” and that “She’s managed to really own that corporate look but make it unapologetically fashionable as well”.

Acknowledgement to Ms Bishop’s style by the leading authority in Australian mode industry has added to the fact that the Australian Foreign Minister knows very well her capability in boosting her country’s economic diplomacy through fashion.

Thumbs up to Ms Bishop who also runs daily in order to keep a healthy and fit body. Indeed, it is very important for any diplomat and those working in public offices to keep their good health by working out regularly as Ms Bishop has demonstrated.

One thing I adore the most about Ms Bishop’s dressing style is that she does not feel intrigued in admitting that she would like to have Carrie Bradshaw’s walk in wardrobe from the enigmatic Sex and The City serials.

Ditto, Your Excellency!!! Let’s build a walk in wardrobe as grand as Carrie’s to fill our most treasured possessions, FASHION and SHOES!!!

Stay tuned for next week’s final part on Leading Ladies of Diplomacy which will cover the former US Secretary of State and Presidential candidate, the enchanting Mrs Hillary Clinton.
