Aerin Lauder, JET and Indonesian Ikat: Three’s Classy Company
Long before the world was revolutionized
with the airing of “Simple Life” serials which made Paris Hilton and Nicole
Richie as the most sought after heiresses and socialites in the early 21st
century, there was a line of young women whose poise and grace reflect their
solid background and fabulous taste.
Aerin Lauder, as the grand daughter as
well as heiress of American most beloved cosmetic legend Estée Lauder, was one of these amazing young socialites. Her
grace and style has been receiving innumerable attention from tender age.
Growing up in the 90s, I have always
adored her impeccable taste and class in style. One imminent quality that I simply
adore from her is that her status and position does not make her a laid back
and relaxed kind of person, whom we often see in the most famous children and
grandchildren of the world’s leading figures. Instead, she made sure that her
name, position and influence match suitably in following the exemplary
footsteps of her grandmother to achieve the very best at her field of work. To
quote the famous words of her late grandmother “I never dreamed about
success. I worked for it.”
Since then, Aerin has blossomed not only
into a beautiful wife and mother of two but also, following the footsteps of
her business-savvy Grandma, as a lifestyle mogul and cosmetic creator.
Another point that I adore from Aerin is
her intelligence in transforming her inspiration as well as experience into a
World-class artistic creation.
Indonesian Ikat, which serves as the
inspiration behind Aerin’s Ikat Jasmine fragrance, is chosen to adorn the
pretty packaging box of each blue and white colored Ikat Jasmine Eau de Parfum
and Body Lotion.
Recently, Australians and particularly
Sydney-siders, including me, rejoiced when Aerin decided to visit Sydney to
launch her perfume and body care line as well as launching her book “Beauty at
Home” which showcases her passion on interior designs.
Naturally, as I opened the David Jones
inscribed invitation to attend the launching, I decided then and there to attend
the launch by properly dressing up in a hand-woven Indonesian Ikat cardigan,
designed by the talented Didiet Maulana.
As an Indonesian first and foremost, I am
joyful that Aerin is thoroughly smitten and inspired by Indonesian Ikat in the
process of creating her premiere
fragrance collection. Afterwards I am even more proud to learn that Ikat is not
the only Indonesian traditional textile that she fancies, as she is also taken
with Indonesian beloved Batik cloths. Pale pink colored Batik print also
decoratively ornamented the lovely packagings of Aerin’s Rose Hand and Body
Cream
In her website (www.aerin.com), every fashionista is welcome to adore
and purchase her beautiful bags which are crafted from textile with Batik
patterns (Batik prints). Recently, her baby blue Batik printed travelling bag
are featured in New York Post as spring’s fashion inspiration (http://nypost.com/2015/02/11/style-scion-aerin-lauder-shares-her-spring-inspiration-list/).
To sum up, the fashionable meeting of
Aerin and JET concluded with the following formula:
1.
Aerin
loves Indonesian Ikat.
2.
JET adores
Aerin and loves Indonesian Ikat.
Aerin + JET + Indonesian Ikat = Three’s
Classy Company!!!
Stay creative and beautiful inside out,
dearest Aerin!
Ps.
A note for my fellow Indonesian fashion designer and cosmetic entrepreneur, if
Aerin Lauder can develop inspiration from our pride Batik and Ikat to her glam
line of fragrance and accessories then what is stopping us to developing as
well as promoting an even more stylish traditional patterns Batik or Ikat or
Karawang or Songket or Tapis into cosmetic and accessories collection in a more
main-streamed manner, from sublime packaging to tempting and exotic fragrance
note?! As far as I can recall all big fragrance and cosmetic house has made
their own signature Jasmine fragrance, or Melati in Indonesia. Then why hasn’t
any Indonesian cosmetic mogul comes up with an Eau de Parfum which is uniquely
Indonesians, perhaps a combined blend of Javanese Jasmine and Sumatran
Rafflesia can embody a striking Eu de Parfum Melati Rafflesia or Jasmine
Rafflesia? Never forget what Aerin Lauder has shown the world with her
successful business empire that creativity which is topped with courage are the
key ingredients in creating a breakthrough in the world’s cosmetic and fashion
industry!
