McQueen Vs. Gaultier

I have always been fascinated with sailor’s stripes pattern. It is such an uncomplicated pattern yet so ubiquitous. Naturally when I see that Alexander McQueen offers a handsome stripey sailor patterned jumper for its Spring/Summer 2015 men’s collection, I just go crazy over it! –not sure if it is crazy or simply being fashion conscious-.

Monsieur Jean Paul Gaultier was one of the very first Parisian designers who revamped the sailor’s stripe in the 1980s and integrated this pattern into his well known designs both for men and women. Even his signature perfume for men, Le Male, bears the navy coloured stripes in its tin box.

Matelot is the name for his sailor stripey t’shirt which is considered as the fashionista’s uniform during those hot summer days in French and Italian Riviera, from Cannes to Monaco, from Portofino to Capri.

So, who’s the winner on this stripe patterned guyz? McQueen or Gaultier?

Any winning ensemble would have to look amazing with my Indonesian Batik scarf!

This photo of mine was taken during the opening of National Gallery Victoria’s Gaultier Exhibition in November 2014.
